The Managing Director’s Message

On Covid-19 Pandemic

Corona virus Covid-19 is a deadly contagious disease that has fast become one of the overriding existential threats faced by humanity since the infamous 2nd World War.

Since its breakout in China last year, the pandemic set the world on fire, spreading at an alarming pace and intensity, and voraciously consuming humanity with little or no mercy. The lethal onslaught of Covid-19 has no boundary and attack mankind irrespective of race, creed or color. As a result, dozens of metropolitan s seem to have been turned into some sort of ghost cities! Countries, big and small; rich and poor, alike, are rushing to contain the breathtaking spread of the killer disease by adopting numerous laws and regulations, ranging from testing and treating patients, to painstaking contact tracing and quarantining; from travel restrictions to forced lock down, etc.

The Ethiopian government, on its part, has taken drastic and timely measures through the adoption of emergency law to contain the spread of Covid-19. Such key initiatives, among other things, include the temporary closure of schools and higher education institutions, suspension of sporting events, prohibition of large gatherings, locked-own by choice…etc. As a result of these measures, the fatality rate of the pandemic in the country is relatively low compared to the outside world.

Cognizant of the horrendous health challenges faced by Covid-19, INFONET College has taken fast move to turn its long-time dream of digitalization and on-line education project into reality. Hence, after months of painstaking work, the College has successfully launched its on-line education, and resumed the teaching and learning process smoothly via the information superhighway.

At last, I am highly optimistic and confident that we will defeat the challenges of the rampant global health crisis encountered by the Covid-19 disease, if we stand together, and strictly follow the advices of health professionals. I would also like to reiterate that let us not be lenient! Strictly abide by health regulations and advices, such as wearing protective face masks and hand gloves; frequent hand washing; keeping social distancing, as well as, of earnestly observe all other precautionary measures!

God Bless Ethiopia!!
